MEMSCAP's executive management team is composed of executives and technologists who have served at a range of well-known high technology companies, including for many of them, the semiconductor and MEMS industries.

Jean Michel KARAM
Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer

Prior to founding MEMSCAP, Dr. Karam served at French research institute TIMA Laboratories in Grenoble, where he started and built the Microsystems Group to 35 engineers. During that time he was consultant to a variety of international technology companies on MEMS projects. Additionally, Dr. Karam launched and managed the MEMS and the Multi-Chip-Modules manufacturing programs of CMP, a foundry service similar to MOSIS. He received a Ph.D. in Microelectronics from the Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble in 1996, and additional EE degrees from University of Paris VII and the Ecole Superieure d'Ingenieurs en Electrotechnique et Electronique (Paris). He created MEMSCAP in 1997 and became chief executive officer in 1998. He is the co-founder of many high-technology companies, and is a consultant to several companies and investors.

Ron WAGES
VP and General Manager, Custom Products Business Unit

Prior to joining MEMSCAP, Ron Wages served with JDS Uniphase MEMS Business Unit. He also spent 10 years at Texas Instruments where he was DSP Marketing Manager for the Texas Instruments TMS320 product line and had worldwide responsibility for marketing programs. He served as Vice President of Marketing at Spectrum Signal Processing, as well as Vice President of Sales and Marketing at D2 Technologies, then as Vice President of Business Development at Virata Corporation. Ron Wages has a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland College Park and a MBA from the University of Houston.

Jan HALLENSTVEDT
VP and General Manager, Sensor Solutions Business Unit

Jan Hallenstvedt received his Engineer degree in electronics and bio-medical from Arizona State University in 1981. The same year he was awarded a research trophy given by the Norwegian Defence. From 1982 to 1985 Jan worked as a project manager for microelectronic sensors at AME (Aker Micro Electronics) in Horten,Norway. In 1985 he participated to the creation of Norwegian company SensoNor, where he covered several managerial positions from 1985 to 2000. Then, he contributed actively to the creation of Capto, a wholly owned company of SensoNor until 2002 when Capto was acquired by MEMSCAP and became the Group Sensor Solutions Business Unit. Jan Hallenstvedt held the position of Sales and Marketing Director in this Business Unit until January 2005, when he was appointed General Manager of the Sensor Solutions Business Unit.

Aurore FOULON
Corporate Vice President, Corporate Counsel

With a legal and press background, Aurore Foulon joined MEMSCAP in August of 2001, where she supervises today corporate and marketing communications for MEMSCAP, as well as being the company's corporate counsel. She holds two LLB degrees in English and French Law, a Master’s degree in European law, as well as an MBA from the Essec School of Management.

Yann COUSINET
Chief Financial Officer

Prior to joining MEMSCAP, Yann Cousinet dedicated 9 years to audit and financial consulting, where he specialised in semi-conductor and high-technologies. Former Senior Manager with Ernst&Young, where he also was in charge of recruiting and management for Ernst&Young in the Rhones-Alpes region, Yann's primary field of competence is listed multinational companies. Mastering both anglo-saxon and IAS/IFRS reporting standards, Yann has a diploma from Grenoble business school where he now teaches.
